I have just added a link to my facebook page here on the right, and also I have created a twitter account that can also be followed on the right side of this site. For those that have visited and seen the code plastered all over the page, hopefully it is corrected now! :)

Happy Holidays and some changes coming for the new year! PDF Print E-mail

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone for coming to my studio sale this year, and to let you know how much the support is appreciated. Additionally, I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season this year and is looking forward to the new year coming! I am in the process of making some changes to the website, so please bear with me. I had to google which spelling of the word "bear" to use. It is not "bare" as I thought it would be. The main concern I had was my mailing list. I have gotten rid of the "members section" on my site and replaced it with a simple mailing list to keep people informed about my pottery and future sales and discounts. If you are a "member" don't worry as your e-mail address has already been added to my mailing list and you should be receiving an e-mail soon that will give you the chance to "opt out" or "unsubscribe" if you would like. But if you would like to stay informed, you will be. My newsletters will be brief and to the point and they will not come very often. They are simply a way to advertise coupons and discount codes for online purchases during certain times of the year and to offer you a chance to know where and when my work will be available for sale. If you were not a member before this change and would like to be on the mailing list just click the link to the right and sign up! I look forward to meeting new people this year and keeping in touch with the old friends and customers that are already on my mailing list. Thanks in advance for your patience! Jon

In

the last several months a lot has happened to keep my away from the studio and the website. Most importantly, I got married to my long term girlfriend Kim Dills. :) We have been together about 10 years, and we should have done it many years ago. I also built a deck on the back of the house and finished my kiln. Attended a funeral for my grandmother, lost a friend way too early in life to a heart attack, assisted a class at John C. Campbell Folk School, had a booth at the Southern Highland Craft Fair and more. I was able to fire one time since the last blog post and learned a couple of things about the new kiln. It was very hot in the bottom front and cooler in the back. I will have to increase the height of the bag wall to compensate for this. All in all the firing came out good, but my tendency to overdue the drippy glazes known as ash, caused me to lose a few because they stuck to the shelf. Murphys' Law always takes precedent in the clay process, no matter what I do. It will always be a humbling experience. I have spent some time listing pieces on my etsy shop and am going to try and maintain at least 50 pots there at all times. Etsy can be very time consuming, taking photos and listing the pots, but hopefully it will pay off in the end. In order to promote my etsy shop I am offering a discount code for those that read this blog. The code is 13721 and gives a 15% discount on any purchase when entered. I will finish with some pictures of my first firing in the kiln and happy "Turkey Day" or "Tofurkey Day" for those that do not partake in carnivorous activities! Laughing
